Royston turquoise, mined exclusively in Nevada, is prized for its rich teal-to-forest green color with distinctive brown matrix — one of the most collectible turquoise varieties in the Southwest tradition. The combination of living stone and ancient fossil in a single handcrafted piece is genuinely rare. A maker's mark is visible on the reverse, though faint and partially illegible — consistent with many mid-century Navajo artisans who worked under trading post arrangements.
